Man Guilty Of Crack, Cocaine Distribution In Fairfield County

A Fairfield County man with a lengthy criminal history has been convicted of distributing drugs in the area, U.S. Attorney for Connecticut John Durham announced.

Bridgeport resident Rocky Samas, also known as “Twin,” was found guilty following a two-day trial of one count of possession with intent to distribute 28 grams or more of cocaine base, and one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine. 

Durham said that between August and October last year, police investigators conducted three controlled purchases of crack cocaine from Samas in Bridgeport prior to his arrest. 

On Nov. 6, last year, Samas was arrested on a federal criminal complaint. On the day of his arrest, investigators searched his Bridgeport residence and seized approximately 80 grams of crack cocaine, 200 grams of powder cocaine, $14,000 in cash, and two digital scales.

According to Durham, Samas’ criminal history includes multiple drug convictions, including a federal conviction in 2005 for possession with intent to distribute and distribution of crack and powder cocaine. On Sept. 21, 2005, he was sentenced to 240 months in prison. He was later re-sentenced to 96 months of imprisonment. Samas was released from federal prison in 2011.

Samas remains released on a $200,000 bond. When he is sentenced on March 19 next year, Samas will face a mandatory minimum term of five years and a maximum term of 40 years in prison.
